Sauti Sol and Alikiba Win at Soundcity MVP Awards 2016
As the year comes to a close, East Africa prides itself at clinching two coveted awards at 2016 Soundcity MVP Awards held in Nigeria at the Expo Center, Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, on December 29, 2016.
Kenyan music group Sauti Sol bagged yet another award for Best Group in Africa at the ceremony, clocking a record four awards as Best Group, only this year. Their other Best Group and Best African Act or Group in Africa awards include at 2016 MTV Africa Awards, AFRIMA Awards and UK's BEFFTA Awards.
Tanzanian crooner, Alikiba, on the other hand picked Best Music Video award with his Meji Alabi directed "Aje" visuals. Both the artistes were absent at event but were kind enough to send video messages to thank Soundcity and fans for having voted in large numbers. The guys couldn't make it but Cash Madame - Vanessa Mdee was in the building, leaving Nigerian social media in a frenzy over her red outfit, chic dancers and a performance of her new jam at the ceremony that was broadcasted live on Soundcity TV.
Sauti Sol and Alikiba's Unconditionally Bae music video was also named by Google among Top Watched Videos in East Africa this year. Congrats on successful year bros!
