Tanzanian singer and songwriter Diamond Platnumz has recently revealed how Nigerian hitmaker Mr Eazi inspired him to invest in digital platforms.
Diamond Platnumz, now the leading Tanzanian artist in terms of monthly listeners on Spotify, has today opened up about how Nigerian star, Mr Eazi motivated him to spend more resources promoting his songs on digital platforms. Diamond Platnumz's statement was made at a music master class that was prepared by the music distribution company, Ziiki.
During the masterclass session, Diamond Platnumz, credited with taking the Bongo Fleva music industry to the world, said that when he was in London with Mr Eazi, the Empawa CEO showed him his streaming numbers on Spotify. Diamond Platnumz went on to explain that with only 4 songs including Leg Over, Mr. Eazi earned about 400k US Dollars which is about 1 Billion Tanzanian Shillings.
I was once hanging out with Mr. Eazi in London, he showed me four songs, those four songs made him earn about 400k US Dollars which is about 1 Billion. He told me, for me to earn this much, I have a special budget to promote these songs on digital platforms. He was one of the people who made me believe that when you release a song, don't hesitate to spend money on promotion.
In the session, Diamond Platnumz also insisted that fans in Tanzania should now concentrate on streaming music on Spotify than other digital platforms.
