NOTJUSTOK Top 20 Songs of 2010

Features Music

Well, here are the results according to your votes, the NotustOk TOP 20 songs of 2010.
There were over 17,000 votes and the results which were first heard on the DJ JamJam & Fresh Show are listed below. Also included is the podcast of the JamJam & Fresh Show that aired on Dec 28, 2010, Download Links to each song (Click on the name of the songs to download) and a DOWNLOAD link to all songs in one folder.
***Download Links will be removed in 7 Days so hurry and Download***

  1. 2face Idibia – Only Me – …And the artiste occupying the #1 position as voted by YOU is 2face Idibia aka “the man wey senior all of dem” with “Only Me”. Yes it is only him at that position. He dropped this single the week of the “Unstoppable The International Edition” album release. Slow, melodic and very catchy with an equally fantastic video which was perfectly congruent with the emotions of the song. Congratulations Mr Idibia for having the #1 notjustOk song of 2010.
  2. Ice Prince – Oleku – Oleku is undoubtedly the most remixed Nigerian track of 2010. Many artistes attempted to remake the classic Ice Prince delivered to the world in 2010. If this track is a taste of what is to come from Panshak Zamani aka Ice Prince, then expect not only a classic album from the Jos lyricist, but more song remixes/remakes in 2011.
  3. D’banj – Mr Endowed – “Mr Endowed” was a club hit and many females love it! The video further enhanced its appeal. The “Endowed” season isn’t over yet though. Mo’Hits have confirmed that there’s a remix with Snoop Dogg and it should be out early 2011. We’ll bring it to you guys the moment it drops.
  4. Wizkid – Holla at ya Boy – This youngman is moving to another plateau in 2011. This single was very well received and whether you like it or not, it became a favourite after the video dropped. No wonder it got to the #4 spot.
  5. Dagrin – Kondo – The late Dagrin released Kondo in 2009 and in 2010 the song became even more dominant after his passing. This man will surely be missed and we salute him for his contribution to the Nigerian music industry. R.I.P DaGrin.
  6. R2bees ft. Wande Coal – Kisss Your Hand – Ghanaian group R2bees’ smash hit penetrated into the Nigerian market albeit with the aid of Mo’hits heavyweight, Wande Coal. Everyone knew “Kiss Your Hand” by the time 2010 was over.
  7. Dbanj – Scape Goat – “Koko Master” now known as “Mr Endowed” released this track in 2010 as a 2nd single off the “Mr Endowed” album. As expected, the song became viral online and had over 200 comments here on Expect “Mr Endowed” album in the 1st quarter of 2011.
  8. 2face Idibia – Implication – One would think this track would have made it to #1 position because of its popularity on ground. 2face released an instant classic album with “Implication” as the lead single. This song was bumped on every radio station, every club, every street corner and every music-playing device in Nigeria. Certified Hit!
  9. Banky W - Lagos Party – “Mr Capable” released this joint in 2009, but after releasing the video in 2010, the song pretty much got more plays and popularity.
  10. General Pype – Champion (RMX) – This track featured several big names and won the heart of many, including becoming an official World Cup theme song on cable channel, SuperSports. We hope to get a General Pype album in 2011.
  11. M.I – Undisputed Champion - Although this track got released in the last quarter of the year, everyone appears to have loved it and voted it as the #11 track of 2010. In the coming months, we’ll find out how well it does on ground.
  12. Jesse Jagz – Wetin Dey – Jesse Jagz aka Jargo and producer extra-ordinaire delivered this smasing hit in 2009, but it really picked up towards the end of 2009 and rocked the first half of 2010.
  13. Kas – Fimile – This track just took off strictly on its own merit. A trending banger that lasted all year before the remix came out.
  14. Bracket  – Yori Yori (rmx) ft 2face – The Duo, Bracket unexpectedly released “Remember (Yori Yori Remix)” in the middle of 2010, and the song is still gaining momentum on ground going into 2011. Their new album will be dropping in 2011.
  15. Naeto C – 10/10 – For a song that never posted till now (reasons will never be revealed so don’t ask), this track has found itself on the notjustOk top 20 songs. It also hit the #1 spot at the notjustOk Top 10 Countdown on the “JamJam & Dr Fresh show” a few weeks ago. 10/10 is a certified hit and I sincerely feel like it is to “Super C Season” (Naeto’s sophomore album) what ‘Kini Big Deal’ was on Naeto’s first Album (U Know My P). Let’s wait until the album drops before you agree with me; I expect even bigger things to come on “Super C Season”.
  16. JJC – We R Africa (Rmx) - Although this song’s original track came out in 2009, the Naija remix dropped early 2010 and both the song and video were received well.
  17. Saucekid – Under G – SauceKid aka Sinzu finally dropped his highly anticipated ”African American” album in 2010. A few months before, he released this Don Jazzy produced banger by the name of “Under G” and the video followed a few weeks after. The track had people bugging on notjustOk and many turned into Sinzu believers.
  18. Mo’Cheddah – Ko Ma Roll – As we all know, Mo’Cheddah won “Best New Act” at the MTV Africa Music Awards and “Most Gifted Female” at the Channel O Awards. This track received a lot of attention and airplay in 2010 before dropping her anticipated debut album in October of 2010. Expect more singles to drop off her Franchise Celebrity album in 2011.
  19. D’prince, Wizkid & Jesse – Jonzing World - This is the song that solidified D’Prince’s reputation as a solid song maker after he shocked the world with his hit singles “Omoba” and “Ooze” in 2009. Boy Wonder, Wizkid also elevated his status as he did with his other singles (one which made the Top 20 songs) in 2010. Jesse Jagz also showed us why he is the greatest.
  20. Sound Sultan ft. M.I – 2010 - Ironically, “2010″ was the first song to see the light of day on in 2010. Concious and very enjoyable song. Sound Sultan dropped his album on ground in December of 2010.

Fortunately, we have come again with 10 tracks from February along with a Download which will be available for 3 days only. As mentioned below, the tracks are the songs we noticed had a high impact on notjustOk in February.

Please note that the Download link will be available for only 3 more days. Expect more SOLID Nigerian Music in April; I have a feeling that there will be an overwhelming HIT released in April…

notjustOk select is not a Top 10 list of any kind and there is no underlying reason why one song is listed before the other; there is no first or last.

notjustOk Select – 10 is a list of ten songs/posts that have made a major impact on the listeners/readers in a given month. Several factors come into determining how big of an impact a single post made in a given month, such as page views, record breaking amount of comments and constant mp3 request for the specific song. In addition to spotlighting the select 10s, we will provide a DOWNLOAD link so that you can save the mp3s.

The download link will be up for 3 DAYS ONLY! after which it will be deleted/deactivated!

Video: SauceKid – Under G

Features Videos

Funny and well written treatment that I am sure most of us will like.  I like the fact that the video has a story line, humor and a little suspense. The video definitely makes the song sound even better.

Saucekid delivered with both the song and video. Also, you get to see more of Don Jazzy than you ever seen before in any one video.

Under G is dangerous business; Imagine if the video had ended the way we all expected, what would Don Jazzy have done? We might have seen a Cutlass, Axe or Gun in this video…

SauceKid – Under G (Prod by Don Jazzy)

Features Music

Sinzu has hit the nail on the head with the help of Don Baba J. This track should do wonders for him on radio and in the club. A solid track to release in preparation for ‘African American‘…

I am copping the ‘African American‘ album when it comes out; I am now officially a SauceKidBaba fan!… I am now in with 2 legs

Video: Sasha ft Naeto C & SauceKid – Making Money (Remix)

Features Videos

Storm is in the building!

Here is the video for Sasha’s ‘Making Money‘ remix, that everyone has been longing to watch after seeing a snippet on the original video. They all brought the right amount of energy to the video… LOL @ Sinzu’s continuous ‘Put your hands in the air‘ chant which surprisingly makes the song sound better.

No word yet on when Sasha’s album will drop, but I am sure it will be sooner than later.

Directed by Bobby ‘Big Budget’ Boulders who appears at the 0:57 mark.

Premiere: Sauce Kid ft Meaku – Distribution (Full)

Features Music

SauceKid’s album is dropping soon for sure and the video for ‘Na Me Be Fine Boi‘ will be out shortly.

The chemistry is evident, these two (Sinzu and Meaku) make beautiful music whenever they get together on a track. Sinzu needs to make a video for this track even if he does it for the streets.

I am now convinced that SauceKid will both drop a solid album and remain a respected brand in the Naija rap game. Mad flow and sick hook!!!!

…you looking shook cause I’m getting booked while you facebooking

Meaku ft SauceKid – Nigerian American Idol

Features Music

Whoa! SOLID effort from Meaku; this brother comes harder (Pause) with each new song. Every single element on this song makes it what it is. In other words, this is not a case of, ‘O the hook is catchy, so the song is good’ it is a HOT song altogether; the beat, rhythm, tempo, lyrics and SauceKids verse.

Meaku’s album ‘Who is Meaku?’ should be released first quarter of 2010 through Universal Records.
