Come Sunday ( Carnival Sunday) 28th August 2011 an expected 5000 Afrobeat and Comedy lovers will converge at the at the world famous HMV Apollo Sunday 28th August Bank Holiday Sunday (Carnival Sunday) featuring Africa’s biggest and brightest stars.

African music has evolved in the last 5 years seeing it come to the forefront of popular culture and thus attaining world recognition- evidence of this is MTV Europe Awards, BET Awards and the MOBOs having a Best African Act category and very recently Choice FM; the UK’s Number 1 urban radio station launching the first ever music slots dedicated to African music tagged Afrobeats with DJ Abrantee, a move which made Choice FM a trending topic on Twitter for the first time in the history of the station since the advent of social media.

The Evolution of Afrobeats has gained steady grounds over the years and recent times ‘Fela The Musical’ came to London’s National Theatre and played to sold out audiences. There has also been a cross over from Caribbean audiences who have come to appreciate and enjoy African culture. This has been evident in the increase of Caribbean audiences watching Nollywood films and listening to the sounds from Africa.

London Carnival is coming soon and the good folks at Cokobar are bringing your favorite artistes to perform in the UK for the Afrobeats Festival. Superstar WizKid, Oleku master IcePrince and the larger than life Twins, P-Square will be performing live on Carnival Sunday at the HMV Apollo, Hammersmith London.
