Mampintsha is doing an excellent job of managing his biggest star, Babes Wodumo. By all accounts, he’s also doing a great job of being a boyfriend to the Gqom queen. However, when it comes to handling his label, West Ink Records, things are less rosy.
According to the Daily Sun, two key acts have already left the label. Both the Distruction Boyz, who have blown up with the national rise of gqom, and Babes Wodumo’s dancers, who were signed as one act, have left West Ink.
One source spoke to Daily Sun and revealed some damning information about the relationships and operations in the camp:
“Mampintsha is running the record label like a street vendor. All the money generated by the company goes straight into one account. The dancers’ salaries and logistics money are also deposited from Mampintsha’s FNB card.”
The drama doesn’t end there. The source also added another twist to the Babes Wodumo PR saga.
“He told Babes to look for a PR company, then later changed his tune and told her to leave it because it was costly, I think he saw his label losing lots of money to the PR company.”
Do you think Mampintsha needs to take a step back from managing the label?
