Sunday saw another set of ten perform for the available spots on the top twelve of the ongoing third season of the Etisalat sponsored Nigerian Idol. Much was expected from the contestants following the performances from the previous week, however many of the contestants failed to live up to expectations as the judges noted that their choice of song didn’t bring out the best of their talent.
Once again, guest judge and Nigerian Hip-Hop Superstar, Naeto-C, made tough remarks after each contestant’s performance. However he commended Kome from Port Harcourt for her creativity. First act of the night was Victoria who brought pizzazz to the reality show with a glittery diva outfit. Oweck, Joe-Emmal, Moses did not disappoint but some others seemed to have lost their steam.
As the show continues Etisalat is giving back to Nigerians as they partner with the Judges to raise support for a charity of their choice. The telecoms company is running a picture competition where fans of the show will vote for their favourite judge, the judge with the highest number of likes on the page gets to give a donation from Etisalat to a charity of their choice.

The contestants all hope to be this season’s winner who will go home with prizes worth 20 million naira, including a brand new SUV, 7.5 million naira in cash and a contract with a record label. Etisalat Nigeria will also present a saloon car and 1.5 million naira, to the first runner–up. The show airs on Sundays on STV, NTA network, TVC, Soundcity and ONTV.
Meanwhile, Nigerian Idol Season 3 Judge and Afrobeat legend, Femi Kuti, is expected back on the show in February.
