VIDEO: EeDris Abdulkareem Slams D’Banj; Discusses Beef With 50Cent | Don Jazzy Responds

Post by Ovie O, September 3rd, 2012

He’s not only the father of modern-day Nigerian hiphop; he’s the father of controversy. EeDris Abdulkareem takes a huge swipe at D’Banj for his affiliation with Goodluck Jonathan during the Presidential campaign and also claims that he paved the way for the likes of D’Banj, Don Jazzy, P-Square and others who are benefitting immensely from Nigerian music today.

EeDris also opens up on the “beef” with 50Cent several years ago and President Obasanjo’s “Jaga-Jaga” rant aimed at EeDris. This is one interview you must not miss!

I wonder what is left for the mentor himself, Blackky, since Idris is usurping all the glory to himself without acknowledging his predecessors. However, the high point of the interview cum the categorical mistake is the D'banj's issue, that took objectivity away from his reach. Nonetheless, he allowed his emotion to overwhelm his choice of words, i belief a mentor as he claims he is shouldn't be found making such assertion encapsulating foul words. A mentor should inspire people after him and not influencing with wrong words. Remember this site isn't rated 18 …. Furthermore, I wish we all or better still, notjustok should upload Timaya's interview on the site so we all could hear what Timaya said about the self-acclaimed Idol(Idris) when he worked under him for proper analysis. As 2baba wud say, nobody holy pass !!! @Brej, u also committed same fallacy with idris, its either u were oblivious of the assertion Idris made about D'banj (foul-words) or u deliberately closed ur eye to it. Irrespective of how sincere u sounded, that singular act took objectivity away also from ur comment.

Eedris is controversy. Yes! We all know this. But behind his controversy, he drops some "bitter" truth. There has been singers and rapppers before Eedris but I tell U, that group Remedies were the 1st that took hiphop to an enviable level. Eedris was discouraged by producers against rap/hiphop, he refused and did it and got fame. He may have wide mouth but Eedris was phenomenon. When plantation boys arose, he said no Tuface, no plantation boys. What happened? Today Tuface is de only standing. He said 9ja jagajaga, everything scatascata, poor man de sufasufa….. Anyone that thinks this is false, pls put Your fingers up! Nigeria music has been there, yes but Nigeria music took another turn with the inception of Remedies, then plantation boys, etc till it has come to the level it is today that Dbanj can be mixing up with Snoop and Psquare singin alongside Ricky. Those days, they mentioned PuffDaddy but didn't have what it took to get to him physically. But the reformation brought by Eedris etc brought back Nigerians in diaspora to come back home to pursue music careers, thereby narrowing the gap by the way 9ja music and American music. Now Nigeria singers can easily mixup with their counterparts abroad.

i'll rather not take sides but pick d supposed points in wat mr eedris said but i will say, that keke and d1 actually are d reason naija music is rollin in d $$$$

i guess he just read d 48 laws of power by Robert Greene…nice book but he forgot law 4 "always say less than necessary"

on a lighter note tho, i feel it's all a publicity/marketing stunt by eedris, he's trying to court controversy and feed on his past glory in order to attain new heights of 'relevance', nice one, and trust me it's a win-win situation for him and d'banj cos dats some promo right there :D i just hope n pray d'banj keeps quiet on d issue and treat him like he did d people during #occupynigeris lool

i'll spectate and see how this goes……..

Everyone has a voice and everyone has a view / perspective. It is called "Freedom of Speech." Eedris has the right to say all that he [Eedris] said and his opinion about the whole D'Banj's thing collecting money from Goodluck. If a poll was to be carried out, we will find out that alot of people will begin to see reasons why Eedris is bitter. D'Banj claims to be a representative of the youths and never for once has he been able to voice out to the Nigerian Government of her wrong doings. Yet, he [D'Banj] was bold enough to interview Goodluck during the campaign, sang for him during the campaign and also used as a surrogate for the GEJ campaign. If we look at all of these facts, you will be able to question D'banj's integrity and personality. Eedris has done nothing wrong by calling him out. D'banj should only OWE Nigerians an explanation for his silence during the #occupy_nigeria, #subsidy and even the drowning economy of the country. Being a youth ambassador, he is expected to speak for the youths of the country, the unemployed, the students, the senior citizens. All of these people are the same people who buys his CDs and yet the money Goodluck paid him in a day was more important to him than the 150 naira per cd he has been receiving in the past. As for Don Jazzy, get off it!

To Me i have noticed anyone saying anyting againt dbanj dis days don jazzy will run to twitter of the media people and be taking side with the opponent of dbanj…..shame on you Jazzy But dont forget Even if Dban Collected Money from Goodluck The money Still Went to Mohit Record which you were also a partnership of and even in the song video which dbanj did for Godluck your broda Jay Mohit was the one that did the Recording and studio section of that Video,so you guys should all stop the betrayal cause its not taking dbanj Backward and on the other Hand my full Family over there in Nigeria Voted for Goodluck because At that very Moment Goodluck was like an OBAMA in a Campaign Dangle .so i will take it that after watching dat interview i was not surprise about Eedris Because He cant Even Be an Inspiration to my next General not to talk about these i am presently,So does personal meeting held with donjazzy,Seun Kuti, and Eedris Against Dbanj Can Never stop Our Likeness for him,Cause if he said he parved way,At least we all can see dbanj parved way for our artist now towards international record deals
