VIDEO: EeDris Abdulkareem Slams D’Banj; Discusses Beef With 50Cent | Don Jazzy Responds

Post by Ovie O, September 3rd, 2012

He’s not only the father of modern-day Nigerian hiphop; he’s the father of controversy. EeDris Abdulkareem takes a huge swipe at D’Banj for his affiliation with Goodluck Jonathan during the Presidential campaign and also claims that he paved the way for the likes of D’Banj, Don Jazzy, P-Square and others who are benefitting immensely from Nigerian music today.

EeDris also opens up on the “beef” with 50Cent several years ago and President Obasanjo’s “Jaga-Jaga” rant aimed at EeDris. This is one interview you must not miss!

    • ELEYO says:

YOU ARE RIGHT. AT THE SAME TIME, HE HAS A POINT. HE SHARED A LOT OF VALUABLE INFO THAT I DIDN''T KNOW ABOUT. I GUESS, DIS IS JUS HIS WAY OF TAKING US BACK TO THE 90'S.

      • Vinco says:

  5. D.B says:

Lol… it is the "Entertainment Industry" this is entertainment. Why does he have to tell us what he has done, if he is that important he would need not do all this, this just makes him look immature and honestly he has lost my respect. Why does every musician have to fight the government for people to appreciate their art?? Because everybody is doing something doesn't make it right, allow people live their lives don't push your choices on people.

  6. ELEYO says:

WOW. D'BANJ MUST BE THE MOST HATED NIGERIAN ARTIST. I GUESS IT ALL STARTED WITH THE GOODLUCK JONATHAN SONG, THEN FUEL SUBSIDY, THEN MO HIT BREAK UP. SUCH IS LIFE ANYWAYS. ALL ABOUT CHOIICES.

  7. Therapist says:

    #PREACH!

  8. NJO_JUDGE says:

Eedris is the BOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dey feel this man scatter, i just became a huge fan of this man all over again. Its so sad Nigeria is a country where we dont value our icons. Its also a shame that our music industry is still not structured. This man has done alot for our music industry and its sad that there are only a few honest musicians left in our country.

  13. You may have introduced them to music or make them get paid, the truth is that they’ve surpassed you..soon you’ll start insulting Wizkid..

  14. JustAnotherNigga says:

EeDris might have a point, but he is all over the place with this interview. Talking about GEJ in that way. Omo, you should be silenced. When you give people a chance to talk, they start ranting. The D'Banj and other issues, did D'Banj beef him ? Why is he talking like he has hate in his heart. Talking about getting the same treatment with 50cent, Haha. EeDris…. I'm sure you know more about economics. Just go back home, smoke some weed, while listening to Burna boy (smoke some weed) and rethink about this interview.

  15. tony joe says:

    Can’t u stay without beefing people.first,it was 2FACE ‘n’ 50 CENT….it metarmophorsed to OBJ because you couldn’t deal with’em…and now you’re saying this sh*t about these guyz..the truth is..(Their money ‘n’ ur money no b mate)

  16. Fact&Truth says:

idirs is noting but a Talkative, We Guys are all Hustlers so as d'banj so As for D'banj singing for Jonathan was for Campaign and wasn't his fault at all(Everyone in Nigeria Wanted Jonathan as the President) No one knew it's all gonna be like this in future because every Nigerian wanted Jonathan on the Presidential Sit so he supported it… what does it profit a Man to beef his colleague and still remain the same, God has blessed D'banj and no Man can Stop that. this is the second time you are talking about this… (Now People Beef D'banj to make Fame). Go and Find Something Doing Eedris Abdulkareem & Stop Beefing someones Glory, You will just end up like Story…#DontHateJustPray

    • Tunde says:

i never wanted Jonathan as the president. I saw it coming. ask yourself, what was his antecedents up until that time apart from being fortunate to have his bosses die?

  17. Wonder says:

F*CK YOU AND SHUT UP THERE EEDRIS, WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR BLAAA BLLAA BLAAA, MR KNOW IT ALL AND MASTER OF ALL MISTAKES… STOP BEEFING #FACT.

This is so unfortunate. Eedris still smokes that cheap thing….

  20. baba suwe says:

he went hard!! like an early morning erection! DAYUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. air-comodore bricks says:

this is at best very coarse, gross, vulgar, rustic, graceless and lacking in every elements and cardinal points of candour that this interview aims to amplify. the frankness was lost in unnecessary bogus unsubstantiated claims and name calling. why the animation and agitation and pretension when u also betray the same attitudinal poverty and material mindset of those u are trying to malign. why are u throwing names of personalities who know little of ur personal insecurities and battles. some of them would be more than embarrassed beyond words. eedris there is no virtue in this interview at all, and i can only smell the putrid stench of selfishness, envy, arrogance and entitlement complex. when u do a better interview, we go give u a better appraisal. but on this one u missed an opportunity to win our hearts. obrigado

  22. manchara says:

I wonder sometimes when failed individuals who don't fit in to the music scene anymore try to revive their career and choose this way again to blow their trumphet …This is quite pathetic really ..How will not just okay even have this posted …Why not tell the eedris to set up a personal blog or his own websites to trumphet his whatever nonsense he is trying to make us understand.

At the end it comes back to the same just trying to get a cheap publicity ,what is our business with 50 and all this rubbish.

Notjustok this shouldn't be on here really when you have a fellow artist taunts or try to be abusive you shouldn't have this on your webpage.

    Thank

    • brej says:

YOU ARE AN EPITOME OF THE WORD "SORRY KID"

I AM ASHAMED BUT ITS JUST THE TRUTH TO REALIZE THAT THE MAJORITY IN NIGERIA THINK OF YOU YET WE ASK WHY THE COUNTRY IS IN SUCH MESS!.SWEAR DOWN I KNOW YOU WILL BE QUICK TO REPLY ME COS FOOLISH PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS DIE WITH THEIR FOLLY AND SURE ILL NEVER REPLY BACK, BUT AM GLAD ANY WISE MAN THAT SEES MY REPLY TO YOU WILL TESTIFY THAT YOU NEED A MIND RENEWAL.. I WISH YOU SEEK WISDOM AND ABOVE ALL UNDERSTANDING. IT WILL HELP YOU BECOME A BETTER PERSON IN LIFE.
      THANKS

      • manchara says:

I trust you do not have to be ashamed of me ,and in as much as I believe you are entitled to your opinion i wont have a word tic taca with you all..and you need not write in capital letters..

So tell me what has Psquare and the rest of everyone got to do with what Eedris has to say..I understand he slammed dbanj ,But man what has eedris done as a person to better the lot of people around him?

What charity organization has he established? What has he given back to the community that made him other than ***SMOKE IGBO*** polluting the air.

Are you naive?didnt you watch the video yourself? what is his motive actually? Still taking us back to the fuel subsidy issue or discussing his own downsized career that cant be fixed?

        Tell me

WORD!! An O.G has spoken now Dbanj will release Oyato remix LMAO…EEDRIS WENT IN HARDDD.

  27. wrgrgg says:

Orishirishi…Mr eedris ,if as at that time Good luck approached you for advert…SHEY U NO GO TAKE THE MONEY? smh bros….small small dey talk nah….no one knew goodluck was going to fuckup, every nigerian supported him then , even me , i voted for goodluck…Good luck was already getting the public's love before dbanj did a song for him….this is not dbanj's fault , this is our fault , we all voted for goodluck so eedris needs to shut it already! & about the baba isale thing…don jazzy alreadi replied u…You inspired people…simple….It's nobody's fault that your music is not selling anymore!!!!!!!!!!

    • This game needs a new name bruv, ur talking smack or do you need an interpreter?…firstly u need to speak for yourself when u say EVERYONE voted for Goodluck just cos u think voting is by affiliation or merriment over the name "Goodluck" or shoeless school trip sob stories. The candidate had no clear development mission from go and not everyone suddenly gets dumb on election day Rain check that…also u must have missed the part where Eedris mentioned he's sorted for money. Oshiomole is legally buying his music and that's a good music sale right there. Integrity has no price tag, learn this and rain check that too bro

      • wrgrgg says:

I don't know what smack you're talking….but i'm just going to reply your second line! Not everyone voted for good luck , I agree…But how did he became the president?… He became the president because MAJORITY of the people voted for him,Mr man do your research,Nigerians LOVED goodluck ….so stop trying to be smart here! This is the second time i'm commenting on this website but i visit this site regularly, You just keep stating the obvious thinking you're wise,I'm using this opportunity to tell u that you're not!!!!

      • Alaye oya park well well, without wasting words i will face u squarely since u've drawn the battle line by getting personal. A numbered Classic defeatist like u is not expected to know better. Being anonymous and with my wits about me, i know there are no NJO prizes for being wise so i'm honestly less concerned what u think. However since u say i'm stating the obvious, maybe u shld try it too cos u do talk a lot of senseless shit for a guy with little or nothing to say(u shldnt really have bragged about ur inaction). Just accept ur personal vote was lost in a confidence scam or comeup with whatever makes u sleep at night…

For ur information, Nigerian elections currently mean fuck-all at the count, ok. Our elections are lost and won at the plebscite. In reality, ur so called MAJORITY vote could have been a mere 60% of a total active national 10% electorate participation. Do u even know ur local government chairman? Mind you, I fully participated in the last INEC elections so i can tell u Its all a scam(sometimes even more votes than registered voters)…My best advise to u is to sit on ur hands and stay reading comments or wait for a "banger" so u can write "he killed it"…if i were u i'd give logical reasoning a wide berth.

Ps. In real life i'm actually a humble person. I know a lot from a lifetime of learning but i feel like i know nothing, only reason for writing all this "bullshit" online is desperately to elicit some wisdom(any kind) from the viewership to broaden my perspective. Cos i believe in give and take…Needless to say, its lost on people like u but i hold faith. So take this as an indicator of my disappointment in u and your formal education.

      • London says:

WTF! see as lastma killa just dey edit comment???? hehehehe….Your body no come down! wow so you can't take it when somebody tackle u for notjustok??? smh! nice one at wrgrgg (Dbanj right? ) lmfao

      • Somto says:

The international community who has always condemned our election process said; "this is the fairest freest election Nigeria has ever conducted and an example for other African countries".
Lastma tell me, what changed? Did PDP bribe the rest of the world?

      • Omo-One says:

@ Somto. Comon. Do you not know the difference between best and better? Being the fairest election does not mean it was fair enough or even anoy better that bairly fair. yes The man is right. Election in Nigerian is all about the highest bidder. U can go suck a toa if you one of them ignorant bastards running that scam

      • numvy says:

      • Vinco says:

    • paulmirabilis says:

I pity you and this generation of Nigerians.I don't think any sensible person would have voted for that idiot called GOODLUCK.You'll regret your decision for many years to come because that dude(GEJ) and his guys are ready to make you go through hell!

Olodo

forget music for a minute and u see Eedris is just simply bullshit proof everything said here is 99% fact anyhow you choose to look at it. A bit brash to be honest but this is a core Nigerian vehemently and selflessly talking to you about our collective futures and if only as little as 20 legislators in this country were as sincere, this country would be paradise in a couple of months. Going by the comments its disturbingly easy to see that a disproportionate number of people still can't identify the main reason for the "Nigerian Condition"…Its just a fucking pity we Nigerians like to build our little imaginary safe comfort zone castles to hide from reality by dancing, suffering and smiling, hustling all day just to live above the bread line while abhorring all sense of community. I personally think we are generally just a well managed group of lunatics (sorry just a fact) cos if present day naija doesnt frustrate u like EEdris to want to speak out, shun fear and change the status quo, u might need Psychological evaluation . Big ups Oshiomole and Eedris for daring to swim against the tide.

The definition of insanity is when someone keeps doing the same thing while expecting different results.

i fink u said it all, nigerians really needs mental emamcipation.

    • air-comodore bricks says:

lastma i want to agree with u only based on our camaraderie on njok…eedris sef na saint? we know him too well to fall for this. when did he become the apostle of uprightness and street morality. he who must come to equity must come with clean hands. his shenanigans are well documented and he is also guilty of the things he's accusing others of. all of them don collect money and sell thier conscience for a mess of porrige. 9ja entertainment industry is a grand hustle where only the rotten survives so… if he is embittered and nursing a grudge he should while castigating others also look at his own image in the mirror too

      • GreenZ says:

@LASTMA, I just 'thumbed' you up on that Albert Einstein's quote !!! :)

      • Elder statesman and senior commenter i harbour's not shadow of a doubt in my mind when it comes to your ability to adjudge these sensitive matters dem. I fully concur with you but i'd prefer to think he's turned a new leaf besides he's been rather consistent in his activism. Its better one than none and I believe a good conscience fears not reproach. May God bless our hustles sir!!!

Although i was out of the country when the election happened. the vibe coming from home was that GoodLuck was the man majority wanted (regardless of the fact that most nigerian election are rigged) ..almost everyone i communicated with supported him. which i think is a justable reason why d'banj supported him too (we can't judge him for that any one in his shoe would have taken it as well) but i also feel he should have come out and supported when every thing went south (regardles of the fact it might not work) but i also feel Eedris is acting out of frustration and blowing his own horn, i mean we all know what you have done for us let us be done to shout your name.

  37. djrebel says:

Word is Bond. Eedris has said it all. I have a lot of respect for this guy and he has super-exemplified it to another crazy level. Keep fighting for the right causes Chairman Kareem.

  38. brej says:

Seeing this interview and reading some comments up here has kept tears rolling down my eyes for over 3mins b4 i could put myself together to write down this.

HOW CAN A PEOPLE BE WICKED TO THEIR OWN IN SUCH A CRUEL MANNER??? .Anyone that has the guts to bullshit this dude called eedris is either a son of the devil or purely not mature. b'cos if you know a little about the evolution of the Nigerian music industry, you will know that such people should be idolized like the so called westerners (y'all wanna be like) do to their own!.
can someone please kindly tell me why any Nigerian based abroad can see this and read your comments ever think of coming back to "help build the nation" like we constantly hear??.. which Nation??.. that of which the people despise sincerity and "good success"? somebody tell me cos am so confused right now.
truth be said. when i was back home years ago.. i was among the foolish ones that disliked what went on with this guy and 50cent but relocating to Europe saw me seeing life from AN INTELLECTUAL SIDE.. I am a musician doing wonderfully well out here and God knows i have never denied where i am from, but whenever me peeps back home tell me to return home all that come in my mind is people like this guy!. you are proud to come up on social network and rain abuses on him being so broke and you are proud of that??… your very own super star that we all rocked their tunes and cheered on stage. making our days back then filled with so much fun?? Instead of really facing the fact that he speaks about how corruption have taken over our dear motherland!. the ONES i pity MOST are the MUSICIANS themselves that may take sides and call this dude bluff! LOOK AT DON'JAZZY.. VERY WISE MAN. THATS WHY I WILL ALWAYS RESPECT HIM.. READ HIS TWEET ON THE ISSUE. remember , THE WAY EEDRIS WAS ONCE CELEBRATED BY THIS SAME PEOPLE KILLING HIM TODAY, THAT'S HOW YOUR OWN CASE WILL BE TOMORROW IF YOU DON'T KILL THAT SAME CORRUPTION THAT STRUCK THEM!! Tell me all he fought for then that we where all mad about, aint that whats happening now??? aint artist back there treated with respect and graced like like their foreign colleagues ?? even more! I am deep into entertainment here and i'll tell y'all fact! go ask!.. NIGERIAN MUSICIANS ARE ONE OF THE HIGHEST PAID MUSICIANS WORLD WIDE TODAY WHEN IT COMES TO STAGE PERFORMANCE…IF YOU HAVE ANY CONNECTION FROM WHEREVER, GO AND ASK P-SQUARE HOW MUCH THEY COLLECTED WHEN THEY CAME TO FRANCE EARLIER THIS YEAR (at least that one i am very aware of). THE MONEY NIGERIAN ARTIST DEMAND THESE DAYS IS FAR MORE THAT WHAT WE HOST THE LIKES OF BOW WOW, UK KING SKEPTA, EVEN RICK ROSS. AM SURE WHAT HE GOT GOING TO NIGERIA IS FAR BIGGER THAN WHAT WE PAY HIM HERE IN EUROPE. OFCOS "ITS NIGERIA".. WHERE EVERYONE COMES TO SUCK FROM THE TREASURY. Y'ALL DON'T BE FOOLED. THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS HOW RICH AND GULLIBLE OUR PEOPLE ARE AND THEY ALL HAVE THEIR EYES ON THE LOOTH!. NOT THAT THEY LOVE US. I HOST LOADS OF SUPERSTARS HERE AND I KNOW HOW MUCH I PAY THEM BUT WHEN I DISCUSS ABOUT TAKING THEM TO NIGERIA, THE PRIZE BECOME 5TIMES THE PRIZE. THEY LAUGH ABOUT IT AND SAY "COMMON, ITS NIGERIA. OIL RICH COUNTRY"…THEY DUNNO I AM FROM THERE, SO THEY SAY LOADS OF STUPID THINGS Y'ALL CANT IMAGINE, SO I WONT BE SURPRISE IF WHAT EEDRIS IS SAYING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PLANE WITH 50CENT IS TRUE..DO YOUR FINDINGS, THINGS HAVE CHANGED FOR THE BETTER AFTER THE 50CEN INCIDENT…. THINK BACK!! THINK HOW WRETCHED MUSICIANS WERE. THEN IF YOU TELL YOUR PARENTS YOU WANNA BE A MUSICIAN, THEY START CRYING AND RUN TO THE VILLAGE TO BEG THE GODS TO CAST OUT THE EVIL THAT HAS CRAWLED INTO THE FAMILY..Growing up in Nigeria, I listened to a lot of musicians and the only ones that can actually put food on their table today are those that ran away abroad. the like of mike okri, victor mandators and co.. except for king Sony Ade and the rest that sing for weddings, birthdays and funerals, praising politicians and tycoons. is this how its meant to be? Please Nigerians .. wake up and see beyond your noses. we got too many like me out here in several fields of life but whenever we talk about Nigeria its a NO! NO! NO!!!.. our own mother land?? you think we hate home??.. nope!.. we are scared of home. How do you want for example me to leave a place where just for writing a line in a song, i am receiving royalties for the rest of my life!. i don't fight for it, the system is drafted out in a way that there's an organisation whose responsibility is to fight for you and get that money paid in your account just for being an Europe registered artist…Even when i go for shows that i was paid to perform.. a certain amount is also collected from the organizers as creativity/ performance right and money is in the bank…its two different things. things like this we see and know.
Eedris!! may the good Lord bless your hustle. your are doing things many of us including me lack the courage to do, if not i will be back home their, but we are out here cos we cant stand the battle. This kind of battle that you not just fighting the so called politicians, but also your OWN PEOPLE you fighting for are fighting you. yes! as BABA FELA will say.. DOUBLE WAHALA FOR DEAD BODY

    • paulmirabilis says:

You are too sensible my guy.The problem is there are too many kids and groupies on this site. That's why they write rubbish.God bless your hustle bro!

WELL SAID BREJ… SOME PEOPLE HERE ARE BARBIES… EEDRIS IS DA BOMB, NO HATING, HE'S JUST BEING SO DIRECT WITH HIS SPEECH… IF NOT FOR KENNIS MUSIC, EEDRIS, TONY TETUILA, 2BABA, AND OTHERZ… HIPHOP WILL BE DEAD IN NIGERIA… CLUBS IN NIGERIA HARDLY PLAY FOREIGN SONGS NOWADAYS…. "SADE" ( TITTLE OF REMEDIES SONG) TOOK A DECADE BEFORE PEOPLE STOPPED LISTENING TO IT… TILL NOW, IF THEY THROUGH UP THE SONG, YOU WILL STILL DANCE.. YOU MUST, BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE 9JA HIPHOP STARTED…

      • JFK says:

My friend shoot up there. do you know what i take to lift the Olympic touch. can you do that? tell me. stupid human being. you are the kind of Nebuchadnezzar. you are an animal for saying that. you don't have common sense..

    • Papa Chijoke says:

Men u talkin crap! Eedris is a poor idiot whining and trying to seek attention! If he was rich n well paid would he be saying all this crap??? Don jazzy, Dbanj n the likes paid there own dues and made there money . Now check it! Eedris is not talented, u all knw dat! Can he rap well? Do you like his flow?? Do u like his delivery? He aint talented! Simple! If he was he wont be nagging like a lady!

      • brej says:

here he goes with insults! Not even far from what i was talking about. :( talking crap?? do you really understand the weight of the word you just uttered? right on my on comment where i only but aired my opinion? well not far from what i expected cos me article says it all, but ill leave you with this food for thoughts.. Do you know the wright brothers?? well if you dunno them, ill tell you. they are the world famous american brothers that invented and flew the first airplane….go back and see what that plane looked like … shit init?? then imagine the Boeing co saying the wright brothers are shit cos they now manufactured the latest Boeing 787 Dream-liner. same goes for computer and others. the question u should ask yourself before raining insults on me is… were we rocking to their songs then or not?? as at the time they (eedris and co were rocking your airways, weren't their tunes the bomb then?? why then say i am spitting crap?? having grudges with whosoever aint my biz cos you never can tell whatever personal problems they MAY have and to add negative shits aint a part of me.. i stay blind to any negative nature of anyone but choose to see the positiveness in people and work with that, so even if the so called eedris is a criminal today, how does that change the fact that he is a pioneer in the (game) in Nigeria or does it affect the subject i choose to address in my article which is EMBRACE YOUR VETERANS AND ACKNOWLEDGE AND APPRECIATE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO POSITIVE DEVELOPMENT TO THE SOCIETY? sense they say is common but the fact remains the folly just cant afford it.

      • JFK says:

@Brej men, leave this stupid guy yabing nonsense out from their mouth, if care is not taken, they are not Nigerians that is why they talk out of senses. maybe they were born in abroad and they don't know what is in Nigeria, so just leave those stupid idiots. All this that they are saying here.. men they can't say it in front of Edris baba. am not from Hausa, but what Edris baba is talking is true, because i take myself as an example if they don't know let them know it now. there are many young artist in Nigeria nowadays but due to what have been happening to Nigerian Musicians they drop Music and move on with other things. ok for example like me. i have albums but i figured out what has been happening to Nigerian artists so i decided to move on with my football carrier and now am making it in football out of Nigeria. this same thing is also happening to Nigerian footballers. you have to pay before you join your own country team, what a shame to our Government. instead of them to pay their footballers, so that they will make their country proud, but they choose to treat them like outsiders and that is why Nigeria football now has failed totally. ok check out when Sunday Olise, Okocha, Amuneke, west, and others were playing for Nigeria, they were doing great, but because now our so called Government use footballers as their deposit account, made Nigeria football team to fail. common nations cup they can't qualify . SHAME TO THEM ALL. one thing with our Government is that they don't value their Citizens. abeg Brej you be man. when i was listening to baba edris video, i shade tears. Government should make their citizens proud and their citizens will make them proud to. P Square them said "DO ME I DO YOU MAN NO GO VERSE".

    • UCHE says:

Edris is frustrated , because he is almost irelevant in Nigerian music industry, i never expected him to be dissing the younger artists, he should try doing collabo with them, with his experience and talent, combined with the new talents of the younger musicians, he can bring out a tight lovely song, not the nonsense Calabar song he did with Baba keke, the world is moving ahead, nobody is ready to be listening to useless songs like My Calabar girl Ooooo, Edris wake up to reality, as 4 U brej, that your are singing in children parties in abroad dosent mean that you are good, stop decieving your self, continue to support your fellow music looser like Edris

      • brej says:

@MR. UCHE .. i have written and erased this comment more than 8 times because though i seriously feel insulted by you and so tempted to prove you wrong by revealing myself to you, but at the long run all that cropped up my mind is.. ARE YOU REALLY WORTH THE STRESS??calling me a looser in my music career??? LOL..OK! maybe so we all can be happy at the end of the day i will say… thanks for the advice. you feel good now with yourself?
but just incase you live in Europe or will ever visit the u.k or Europe.. kindly drop any means at which i could reach you…i really will love to know you and know if you or any of your generation can step into my shoes. No intentions to look down on you, but by their words we shall know them. Real looser aint hard to identify.so don jazzy could also be called a music failure?simply because he said… eedris have d right to say whatever he can because he is an old man in d game.
a kid is a kid and a fool will always remain one.. please i repeat drop me a means of reaching you.

      • UCHE says:

i stay in UK, and i dont need to reach you, we are not in the same class, as old as Charleyboy, he still did collabo with young artistes, and the track sold out, he never diss them, he recognized that is the only way to be relevant in Naija music industry, edris will realize what he did to him self in near future, to prove to you that your loser mentor is a failure, years back, he was abusing kennis music, now he is with them, believe me, later he will beg Dbanj to do collabo with him, if you think you brej, is good, then let us see one of your videos in NJO, ur friends and family will never tell you that your songs if you have any is crap, bcos they dont want to hurt your feelings. please wake up.

      • brej says:

hahahha. you are a true definition of a joke. i repeat u came up here to rant about whos a success and who's a failure simply cos i asked recognition and a lil round of applause be given to those due… i came up here on this blog cos a friend of mine told me this is one site to keep abreast whats going on in the music scene back home. and whenever i have the slightest opportunity of stage i come here to listen to home music which i really commend the guys behind this. but using this as a yardstick to who's a successful artist and who;s not??? jeeeeeez!! u just exposed how myopic and narrow minded you can be…. you seen tinnie tenpa on this site?or skepta?? or taio cruz?? man, please try as much as possible to sound intellectual even if maybe you are not.do you how many homeboys are killing mics and stages and tearing concerts apart out here in Europe/uk and America that has no presence at home?am not here to blow trumpets and its far against the ethics and engagement rules with my label so i request your private contact PLEEEEEASE!!!.. it will be my great pleasure to reveal myself to you PERSONALLY. i simply detest internet gangsters and wannabees… don't t get me wrong, you called me a failure, i only wanna prove to you that i am one of those artists you worship and pray u have someone from your lineage get as far as i have come in achievements. did i hear u say i am being proud?? yes I HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE COCKY! most especially when littluns like u choose to disrespect! .. WE TALKING MONEY AND SUCCESS YOU UP HERE CHATTING B.S u put shame up my sleeves with the name uche cos i am of ibo origin by birth and u are a disgrace by your level of reasoning. AM OUT.. Edris if you can be humble to read this, stop hate! It will kill you. Most of the things you said here is out of ignorance., and so goes to all of you that still thinks that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is a mistake. You voted him just last year and you already expect Nigeria to be London by 2012…smh. I don't want to count what he has done already but i also need you to know that he is not the reason Nigeria is bad today, he is our hope; give him time. He is new to this process and believe me he is doing something. If you want, add me on blackberry 2836005D and i will reason with you in a civilised. We need to start having faith in our leaders, the past leaders were bad but i must say that it is too early to condemn GEJ. Before you argue with me, please be sure that you are not as angry as Edris or whatever he is.
Edris also remember that your brothers threatened fire and brimstone if GEJ becomes president and now you you opened your mouth to say "he brought boko haram". I suspect you from this day and i pray we cross parts someday so that i can introduce you to reading news papers. You obviously do not read news paper cos if you do you shut your mouth and watch. Rochas that you are praising is making serious leadership mistakes and you are here talking. He is learning on the job like Jonathan and i am not condemning him because i know he has good intentions just like GEJ has good intentions. Read your news paper Edris and if Dbanj beefed you, forgive him. You are too angry and for that you can't go far. Many of us are rich today because of what the people before us did for us and our children will be rich because of what we are doing so stop making noise about it.
You are not Felas Son, Fela does not hate he speaks. Watch this video and listen to the anger and hatred in your voice. God forgive you if you are boko haram.

  71. Freeman says:

I have lived In london for more than 10 years now and the truth is that no race, i mean no race even black british, jamaicans, ghanians, gambians and for christ sake somalians as well, have no tiny bit of respect for us Nigerians, you want to know why, cos some tribes from Nigeria have no respect for Nigeria, they talk fake, act fake, copy every thing every one does there by making themselves inferior and consequently inferiorating the name "Nigeria". I have never seen or met an hausa boy,man or woman in the uk, that talk fake, act fake and wanting to be what they are not, if you have please let me know.

my point is, Eedris is right, why should 50 cent sit on VIP and the rest of Nigerian Artiste sits on Economy in our own country, will that ever happen in the UK or US or anywhere in the west. Now imagine if it was 50 cent that was humiliated like that in front of other Americans what the reactions would be governmentally and publicly …

About D'Banj, i think that guy is sly from day one mere looking at him, just like his fellow…they are like snake, offer them money and they would forget value but then again, D'Banj hasnt done anything wrong to Nigeria, he is just making his money after all he is a business man not a politician and he also has taking the Naija music thing far more than Eedris can take us(on new year eve celebration 2012 in london, oliver twist was the first song they played)so big credit to him for that.

What i can say is that Eedris should do his thing and let D'Banj do his thing. For other Nigerian Artiste , please stop trying to talk, dress like Americans or Jamaicans, how many Americans and Jamaicans do you see wanting to be like Nigerians, na wa o, which kind parents born una wen teach una say copy copy na the way, una no get pride, chai! you all make me sick!

    • UCHE says:

you have lived in london for 10years, yet you still think like a primitive person, shame on you, how can you compare 50cent with edris, your aboki brother, 50cent is an international artist, thats why he was given VIP seat, so Aboki london think before you comment

      • @Endycious says:

i be typical ekpan boy, warri boy confirmed! so no fool yourself!, yes i have lived here for that long and i have seen the ibos youruba and other tribes degrading themselves and our country's name but i have never see an Hausa person do that before, infact they are the proudest among us all, they will never deny where they are from….AND-

if you think that me being against treating international people as VIP and our own people as economy is PRIMITIVE then you need re-education that is, if you are even educated in the first place. Colo mentality, NOW you understand why Hausa people have been ruling us for all these years-Pride will always rule!

  75. Kelechi says:

from my own perspective, Edris could have given a better speech, but that does not deny the fact that he said some glaring truth. One thing i know for sure now is that during the next presidential election artiste would be careful in trying to lure people to vote for a particular candidate (This has been achieved through this speech) and I don't believe Edris is jealous of either Dbanj, P square or Don jazzy (a jealous man never makes it so obvious, that i learnt from experience), but I must confess that Edris took it a bit personal (and i don't blame him for that) cos he is trying 2 make a statement which impact would b felt more when taken personal. #NwaAfor

  76. Me repin EME says:

Edris i feel you nah so the matter be…

  77. Street Presido, EeDris no vex this nah advise you would be a good thug in African Movies, sorry you should be a thug in African movies because there is nothing like a good Thug. This guy scares the shit out of me and no be me he dey vex for. But on a more serious note we need to learn how to appreciate one another, Nigeria cannot succeed with ignorance like this, more than one person paved the way for many influential musicians out of Naija, even foreign Performers have done their part. Eedris it might be hard to swallow but, someone of your caliber can mentor young aspiring rappers under your own label group, build a brand. Start a new movement, forget beef. There is enough wealth to go around, two wrongs do not make a right.

Baba Eedris if not for people like you nigerian music would not be where it is today, you fought for the respect of our own and I can say that this new generation of musicians are reaping what you have sown
THEY NEED TO SHOW BABA A LOT OF RESPECT AND KNOW THAT A NEW BROOM SWEEPS CLEAN BUT AN OLD BROOM KNOWS ALL THE CORNERS,
They dont know what you know and will never be able to be compared to you.
    RESPECT BABA EEDRIS
    ONE LOVE ………………..

  84. Larry says:

Eedris is quite right ( though some comments may seems personal, but not in actual sense)….objectively, Eedris made ways for other artists in 9ja!!!…Some may say his rap was wack, but d same wack lyrics encourage the rest of the arstists to go into music…most of his songs has a lot of messages unlike today's songs that talk about prostitution, sex, immoralty, money!…big up Eedri!

  85. Ehgede says:

To be candid, there is truth in justifying the fact dat u fought for there revolutionary which is kudos to u edris but the fact still remain d same that u edris if u happen to be in d'banj shoe u will act more than that b'cos even though d'banj collected money from bros jona the fact still remain that bros jona had already won pples mind before d election so d'banj jst try to do his own to show his love for him even that i was talking voted for bros jona alone and i dont use to vote at all. But if u want to come back u can come back peace fully as u said that u are a unity man and u let pples show u their love that would had been better instead of attacking d'banj see let me tell u somthin weder u pple likes it or not d'banj had blown d trumpet and he blowed it very well if u pple dont knw if u go to europe nw or America wat dey blive dat we Nigerians do nw singing even dough we av another occupation it was b'cos of this new generations like d'banj and others that so forget critism do ur own

I wonder what is left for the mentor himself, Blackky, since Idris is usurping all the glory to himself without acknowledging his predecessors. However, the high point of the interview cum the categorical mistake is the D'banj's issue, that took objectivity away from his reach. Nonetheless, he allowed his emotion to overwhelm his choice of words, i belief a mentor as he claims he is shouldn't be found making such assertion encapsulating foul words. A mentor should inspire people after him and not influencing with wrong words. Remember this site isn't rated 18 …. Furthermore, I wish we all or better still, notjustok should upload Timaya's interview on the site so we all could hear what Timaya said about the self-acclaimed Idol(Idris) when he worked under him for proper analysis. As 2baba wud say, nobody holy pass !!! @Brej, u also committed same fallacy with idris, its either u were oblivious of the assertion Idris made about D'banj (foul-words) or u deliberately closed ur eye to it. Irrespective of how sincere u sounded, that singular act took objectivity away also from ur comment.

  98. Eedris is controversy. Yes! We all know this. But behind his controversy, he drops some "bitter" truth. There has been singers and rapppers before Eedris but I tell U, that group Remedies were the 1st that took hiphop to an enviable level. Eedris was discouraged by producers against rap/hiphop, he refused and did it and got fame. He may have wide mouth but Eedris was phenomenon. When plantation boys arose, he said no Tuface, no plantation boys. What happened? Today Tuface is de only standing. He said 9ja jagajaga, everything scatascata, poor man de sufasufa….. Anyone that thinks this is false, pls put Your fingers up! Nigeria music has been there, yes but Nigeria music took another turn with the inception of Remedies, then plantation boys, etc till it has come to the level it is today that Dbanj can be mixing up with Snoop and Psquare singin alongside Ricky. Those days, they mentioned PuffDaddy but didn't have what it took to get to him physically. But the reformation brought by Eedris etc brought back Nigerians in diaspora to come back home to pursue music careers, thereby narrowing the gap by the way 9ja music and American music. Now Nigeria singers can easily mixup with their counterparts abroad.

i'll rather not take sides but pick d supposed points in wat mr eedris said but i will say, that keke and d1 actually are d reason naija music is rollin in d $$$$

i guess he just read d 48 laws of power by Robert Greene…nice book but he forgot law 4 "always say less than necessary"

on a lighter note tho, i feel it's all a publicity/marketing stunt by eedris, he's trying to court controversy and feed on his past glory in order to attain new heights of 'relevance', nice one, and trust me it's a win-win situation for him and d'banj cos dats some promo right there :D i just hope n pray d'banj keeps quiet on d issue and treat him like he did d people during #occupynigeris lool

i'll spectate and see how this goes……..

Everyone has a voice and everyone has a view / perspective. It is called "Freedom of Speech." Eedris has the right to say all that he [Eedris] said and his opinion about the whole D'Banj's thing collecting money from Goodluck. If a poll was to be carried out, we will find out that alot of people will begin to see reasons why Eedris is bitter. D'Banj claims to be a representative of the youths and never for once has he been able to voice out to the Nigerian Government of her wrong doings. Yet, he [D'Banj] was bold enough to interview Goodluck during the campaign, sang for him during the campaign and also used as a surrogate for the GEJ campaign. If we look at all of these facts, you will be able to question D'banj's integrity and personality. Eedris has done nothing wrong by calling him out. D'banj should only OWE Nigerians an explanation for his silence during the #occupy_nigeria, #subsidy and even the drowning economy of the country. Being a youth ambassador, he is expected to speak for the youths of the country, the unemployed, the students, the senior citizens. All of these people are the same people who buys his CDs and yet the money Goodluck paid him in a day was more important to him than the 150 naira per cd he has been receiving in the past. As for Don Jazzy, get off it!

To Me i have noticed anyone saying anyting againt dbanj dis days don jazzy will run to twitter of the media people and be taking side with the opponent of dbanj…..shame on you Jazzy But dont forget Even if Dban Collected Money from Goodluck The money Still Went to Mohit Record which you were also a partnership of and even in the song video which dbanj did for Godluck your broda Jay Mohit was the one that did the Recording and studio section of that Video,so you guys should all stop the betrayal cause its not taking dbanj Backward and on the other Hand my full Family over there in Nigeria Voted for Goodluck because At that very Moment Goodluck was like an OBAMA in a Campaign Dangle .so i will take it that after watching dat interview i was not surprise about Eedris Because He cant Even Be an Inspiration to my next General not to talk about these i am presently,So does personal meeting held with donjazzy,Seun Kuti, and Eedris Against Dbanj Can Never stop Our Likeness for him,Cause if he said he parved way,At least we all can see dbanj parved way for our artist now towards international record deals
